You came to Pheryth (fearith) for a reason. You came seeking a bit of an ancient artifact, or a fast pay day, or to serve the will of the Empire. everything was going so well. You landed and began to search out the prize, facing old traps and twisting hallways of this lost temple. but who are you?
1 the Fade Sparrow crew- in need of a good payday
--A scoundrel: Captain of the Fade Sparrow, an old YT 1300 transport modded to the hilt and way behind on repairs, you are here to get the artifact for the robed stranger who promised you 17k and gave you a 2k advance. That would get you flying right and shiny...er fat and happy for quite the while. now you just have to avoid any imperial trouble.
--A Fringer: First mate of the Fade Sparrow, great with fixing things and Slicing what needs slicing. you are here for the big payday and to help out your captain. you owe you’r life to the Cap, for that time you got way in over your head, with that damn Hut. there is something about this job tho… just a feeling but it’s hard to shake.
--A Gunslinger: On the Fade you are the big gun. you hurt what needs hurting hard enough to dissuade them what's needin’ dissuading. This small gang you are part of has gotten into, and out of, more trouble than anyone should oughta, and that’s in no small part due to you.
--A Mystery: You started out scamming people here and there, they just seemed to trust you. you and your great luck. Right up to the point that the madman with his red lightsaber came into the bar you loved to hang out in. It must have been more of your great luck to escape him on the Sparrow. even after they found you stowing away and almost spaced you, the Captain saw something in you and took you in. Damn lucky you’re pretty.
2 The Headsmen- building a reputation with the Huts
--A Bounty Hunter: Leader, for the most part, of the Headsmen. You are the owner of the Noose, a deadly and stealthy Firespray 31 hunter ship rigged to go deep into the dark and get the baddest of the bad for the highest bidder. This team of hunters are your hand picked band of warriors. you are here to get some relic for Shonba the Hut, and nothing will stop you. You have dreams and this payday might just be the thing to get you there.
--A Mandalorian: Adrift with no solid enemy to kill you were hired into the Headsmen by the Captain of the Noose. Now you have a purpose, you fight for the sake of fighting, you fight for the Headsmen. The pay is good enough, the access to weapons and the jobs to use them is better. Anything go keep you going forward and not back to that day…
--A Marshal without a badge: You were the law until you got caught going too far, but sometimes scum needs scrubbing. They never realised you did what needed doing to keep them safe, they never even cared. You made them safe and kept the station clean, Right up to the bloodbath that landed you on the run. Now you work in the deeps of space biding your time and taking down the trash where you can. how did it get to this? how did it get so wrong?
--Along for the ride: Bad guys? Feh! Paydays? Feh! You get your thrills with the smell of thermite and blaster bolts. Its all about the boom. Big risk gives you big thrills. there is just something about the fear a good blast causes that makes you happy!
3 The Empire- To serve the Emperor
--A Commander: To lead a squad for the first time into battle is the chance of a lifetime. now is the chance to crush the enemies of the Empire and earn a name for yourself. the Captain has given you this chance with a shuttle full of soldiers sent down to provide guard service for an Imperial agent on this backwater, blasted waste of a planet. Orders are simple, there are potential hostiles located below. do not interfere with the Agent. position your units to provide a safe corridor for the Agent to get his target out to his ship without letting any personnel see him. his very existence it to be kept a secret by order of the Emperor himself. Flawless execution of this simple task would be a huge boon for your career.
--A Stormtrooper: As the Sergeant in charge of making the mission actually work, you have been told only to secure the passages off this main thoroughfare and not to let the men look behind them no matter what. This new Commander is going to get you killed, but this is the job. take orders and achieve results. On the bright side you have new gear and a full squad at your command. On the dark side…
--A Combat Engineer: You joined to get the best education and hands on experience you could, for a comfortable life for your family on Coruscant. The new commander trusted you with setting up the sensors to warn the Stormtroopers of anything well in advance of trouble. you even have a few to help you do the setting up with. you’re so lucky to have this opportunity to make a good name for yourself in the Imperial service. This is different from the other drops you’ve been on, there is nothing here to shoot at, for once. Once this is done you will have filled the tour requirement for hostile missions and receive your first mark of merit. All too easy.
--A Pilot: You got to pilot the brand new Lambda class shuttle, one of two that was just assigned to the Forward Governance Imperial Star Destroyer. It must be your lucky day. While flying the Tie fighters is great, and you have shown your skill in handling the nimble little fight, you are much happier to have a big and well armed ship like this one under your ass. You have no idea what that freighter is on the other landing zone but after landing you just have to check it out. It’s only thirty meters away and the flight plan states you have at least an hour from drop to dust off. The others can hold the Lambda at the ready while you and Fritzy check out the ship, after all it might be a threat.. If you could secure it for the Empire you just might get to keep flying the newest line of combat ships.
4 The others:
--A Droid: You work on the Bold Sun for Master Cydark. You are just an astromech. You fix things. You do not go into the hold. You do not know why, but that is just the way it is. you know that Master Cydark and his friends mostly stay in the hold. you don’t know why this is either, must be a people thing. The Master has a few other people who run the Bold Sun cargo ship. for some reason you can’t remember where they went. they are gone. you only know they were here from the contents of the crew quarters. you must have been damaged at some point and repaired, The Master takes good care of you.
--A Survivor: The ship crashed Forever ago. Some of you lived, most didn’t. It took too long to get into this crumbly temple, to find shelter from the slashy razor beasts, at least for most of you. something called you into here, and you went deeper in than the rest. you found a small cube, like a puzzle box from back home. it made you feel safe. there was a cool rock there too, all warm and, well not glowie, but it had that feeling. you found fungus that just seemed ok to eat, as well as bugs and stuff. you must must have taken too long getting stuff tho, when you get back to the others they were dead, and one of the Razor beasts. you don’t know what killed them but you feel the cold dread of something down there, and you ran away. you found this new ship. a big one, with lots of places to hide. something in this ship feels wrong, but at least for now you’re safe. After all it’s day, and the beasts mostly come out at night, mostly.
These are the character slots for this game. choose one. you can make up anything else about the character as long as it fits the brief. the game starts after a botched hyperspace jump aboard the Bold Sun. I will have a short bit of story that takes you to where the game starts. the whole game will run about 3-8 weeks. the game is designed to have tension with the different factions, one conceit is that you get through the first game before killing each other. if you kill a character (or try to) the players can try to kill you right back. think of this as you are all stuck together until you find a way out
