Just a quick outline for a wilder based on 3.5 as a class path for sorcerer.
Sorcerer Path: Wilder

1. Wild Surge - as a bonus action you can double your proficiency bonus applied to the next spell you cast this turn.

1. Psychic Enervation - whenever you wild surge, make a Cha save vs your new spell DC. Failure leaves you incapacitated until the end of your next turn.

6. Surging Euphoria - after using Wild Surge, unless affected by Psychic Enervation, you have advantage on all ability checks and saves until the end of your next turn

14. Volatile Mind(Thought Shield) - see warlock lvl 10 great old one ability

18. Controlled Emotions - Psychic Enervation saves are made with advantage

For BJs game I'm thinking about a Duergar.
+1 str, 120 darkvison, sunlight sensitivity; adv vs spells, illusion, charm, paralyze

Probably a war cleric with a scythe(glaive)

thought about making a Surface Raider Background, using the customization options
Skills - Intimidation, Survival
learned from tracking down and interrogating surface dwellers, often enslaving them
Tools - Poisoner's Kit
Languages - Common
Gear - 2 Manacles, 4 javelin, set of dark common clothing w/hood, 50ft of hemp rope, 10gp
Feature - Hidden Camp (same as Outlander feature with the following exception), instead of feeding 5 others, you can find and entrench into a well hidden and safe area for a long rest, if such a suitable area is available

Been doing some Pathfinder research and ive come up with a fairly odd build for Al's game

Gnome Synthesist Summoner

naked gnome summons an eidolon as a suit of armor
grants temporary hp; high str, dex, con, and ac; plus natural attacks and higher BAB
small sized caster fighting in melee as a medium monster and only growing larger and stronger
